Adam & Rowe are delighted to represent the new prints of Celia Paul and to announce the publication of nine new limited edition etchings.

The prints are available now and will form part of an exhibition, entitled Celia Paul: Prints and Small Works on Paper, at Enitharmon Editions in March 2015. They will be shown alongside a small selection of watercolours and drawings, some of which are observations of nature, sketched during Celia Paul’s visits to Wales and Cambridgeshire.

These new soft-ground etchings are characterised by an intense feeling of light and atmosphere radiating from the complex tones of the medium. As with many of Celia Paul’s recent paintings, they represent something of a departure for the artist in their focus on the places where she lives and works. The British Museum and the plane tree are visible from Celia Paul’s studio in one direction and the spire of St George’s from another and Waves is based on the coast around Lee Abbey in Devon.

The etchings have been printed by Paupers Press, Hoxton, London in a small limited edition of 15 on Somerset 300 gsm soft white paper. Each print is priced at £500 +Vat.

The exhibition will take place at Enitharmon Editions in March 2015. Enitharmon is a renowned independent literary press situated adjacent to the London Review of Books in Bloomsbury, which specialises in publishing artists’ books and poetry.

There will be a fully illustrated catalogue with a new poem by Dr Rowan Williams inspired by the prints.
